Space World Japan To Close In December 2017

Bump... closing today.

Big crowds it seems. Ahhh sadface.

Fans queued from 4 a.m. to enter the Space World amusement park in southwestern Japan on Sunday before the facility closes its gates for the last time after 27 years of business.

Shame really. Venus has always been (and will likely always remain) one of those 'exotic' coasters that I remember seeing in my early enthusiast days. It's a shame to know I'll never get the chance to ride that version of the ride.

Hopefully the hardware finds a new home, but given it's age that might not be the case...

The park decided to strap a bunch of fireworks and sparklers to the last train of Venus to celebrate the park's closing and the new year.

I'm presuming that Venus won't be relocated if the trains are all burnt by the fireworks...

^Or maybe it hasn't sold and it's getting scrapped?
That's probably more likely considering the ride's age, even though it is the only one of its kind. Would be nice to see it get relocated, though.

Saw a closer screenshot from that firework ride and there were people on the front seats! Presumably to light the fireworks? Mental haha

Always a bummer to see such a sweet looking park close - it was definitely on the bucket list. At least they went out with a bang. Those sparklers look great!

I did see this as a special offer on the same site that Stinger is being sold on, so it's definitely going somewhere!

^They’re reduced the price of it which says it definitely hasn’t been sold (and hasn’t attracted much interest) and I’m not quite sure how it not being sold means it’s definitely going somewhere?

^That second picture is more or less what it looked like when I visited the park, only things were progressing in the other direction.
