Pleasure Beach 2010

I know wikipedia isn't the most reliable source for information, but it says in 2010 the Pleasure Beach is turning the Space Invader 2 attraction into an arts exhibition (museum-type) to show all of the Pleasure Beach historical collections (such as old ride cars etc) and that both Trauma Towers and Noah's Ark are being renovated and expanded.

I have heard about this Pleasure Beach Museum rumor for quite some time. I wondered if anyone could shed any light on it because I am pretty sure not a month ago Pleasure Beach were auctioning off ride cars!

I wouldn't be suprised if some sort of museum opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, after all, it's a very old park thats hit alot of milestones and has been a park to introduce alot of new things that are used everywhere now, so it's probaly got alot to gloat about in a museum.

I hope it's not true. Space Invaders is the only credit I need from PBBP.

I do hope some much needed renovation of other attractions happens. It's in need of a lick of paint.

I don't care what happens to Space Invaders as it's crap.
I would like to see Noah's Ark and Trauma Towers expanded though as they are both awesome. :)

Sadly you wont get it, as Space Invader wont be re-opening.

I believe what management or reliable sources tell me about PBB, who are usually right, I dont believe this production line of bullsh*t which keeps appearing on PBB's wikipedia page.

You won't be missing much either. It's worse than X//:NWO if that sums it up :)

Yep, Space Invader is a fun "midrange" kiddie coaster. X:\NWO is a crap adult thrill coaster :)

Bicko, I checked out the Wikipage (spent about 20 minutes on it the other day) and the latest "rumours" are added by a named editor, not somebody hiding away. You tend to find the complete crap is put on by people who can't get to be a user on Wiki and just post anonymously... Like some of the stuff that was added and further removed by posters on this page... ;)

So, the new stuff CoasterKing is pointing too? Not official, but I'm not going to just instantly dismiss it as bollocks. I'd treat it as well as any other "rumour".

So no reason to go to Blackpool in 2010 then, saves me some money.

Wonder if anything will be added for 2011 or maybe there can be more rides standing there doing nothing.

I have heard that track is already being removed from the buidling, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did become an art exhibition or similar. Although the rumour about it being removed right now is almost certainly bollocks.

I think PBB's biggest asset financially, PMBO, has also given them a few dilemnas, most obviously the "Where next?" one. Something else to consider though, is that I think since PMBO was built it has split the park in two. The general impression you get as you walk around the central and northern end of the park is that the Pleasure Beach pretty much stops at the lifthill for the Big One, that is the boundary line.

I'm sure a lot of the general public make that mistake too, and as a result the south side of the park has become very underused and a bit of a ghost town. Especially so since this year now you can't even get in that way. I think that's the main reason why they installed Bling, as it's a visually big ride that can be seen quite clearly from around the park and is very obviously on the other side of the Big One's lift hill. They probably hoped this would drive more trade to Steeplechase, which for families is a fantastic ride.

Anyway to do with the future, it's pointless saying "I think in 2010" as Blackpool move so slowly with ride additions it could be anytime in the next decade. So I'm just going to say in the future I think we'll see an overhall of the south side of the park, probably the removal of the Steeplechase and Rollercoaster (and possibly the Dipper and Avalanche) as this could free up a massive amount of space potentially. Then I would think something like a Eurofighter, much as I dread it, and a few new family rides. Or possibly even the station for "The Bigger One"...

Without getting into the building, nobody outside of PBB can or cannot confirm that the track has been removed.

South side of the park isnt forgotten about at all either, on a busy day Steeplechase and Bling will attract a queue, as will Rev. PMBO has been there since 1994, and the other rides except Bling, have been there longer, so to say people think PBB stops at PMBO is wrong imo, as most people will know the layout of the park.

Rollercoaster isnt getting removed either, chances are it'll be open again next year.

Avalanche, Bling and Steeplechase are three of the biggest queue pullers in the whole park. Avalanche in particular sometimes gets exceptionally large queues which on a peak day rivals that of PMBO.

I do think that the South end of the park looks a bit bare. I don't know why, but walking up to PMBO is often an eye sore. I think the North end of the park looks spectacular, with the Casino, Globe and the Dancing Water show towering over everything, not to mention the rides which are all closer together making the atmosphere electric. But the South end of the park is far more spaced out with very little to look at (Apart from Burger King and the shell of the Space Invader 2 building.)

Pleasure Beach should really do something with this end of the park to make it look nicer and give it more of an atmosphere. PMBO is without doubt the most spectacular ride in the park but the area it sits in is perhaps one of the plainest. On a quiet day the south end is pretty depressing. The only sound comes from Bling quietly swinging or the lift hill on the PMBO. The North end of the park is always alive and kicking with screams, whoops and cheers no matter what time of year it is.

As the area with some of the biggest rides I think PB should concentrate on making it more exciting.

I've never understood why you have a Rita signature to be honest.

Haha I often wonder that too.

To be fair, I dont know how you can call 'South Park' at PBB dull. If PMBO is running, its loud, always got people watching it, queueing for it and riding it, so its never dull and quiet around there, especially when PMBO is running on two trains.

North park is very lively though, especially now the fountain is there, but I dont think South Park is dull and quiet, and they cant change PMBO's location to be fair lol.
