Randomly, straight after Plopsland me and Mark (Mushroom) headed over to Sweden and Norway to visit Liseberg and Tusenfryd. First port of call was Liseberg, where we also met up with Peter (Loefet) and his brother Marcus for the day.
Early morning fog at Stansted delayed us by about 30 minutes.
This isn't our plane, but it's what we flew on. Taken whilst we were sitting on the taxiway waiting for clearance for takeoff.
Bye bye England!
Hello Sweden! The coast of Gothenburg looks really sweet from the air.
Turning into final approach. If you look carefully, you can just about see the runway we'll be landing on.
Thats good, at least we have a nose wheel to land on.
Touchdown!
Thank you Mr Plane.
Ok, so this is supposed to be a report about Liseberg not planes, so i'll go to the coasters now.
Welcome to Liseberg! We met up with Peter and Marcus just outside, and they got us free entry into the park with their ECC passes or something. Thanks guys!
First port of call was Rabaulder since it was right by the entrance.
Then onto Lisebergbanan, or the Banana ride as we called it. I was a little disappointed by this purely because it was so over-hyped and I was expecting something really special. Front row near walk on was a good sign to start the day.
Mark tries on the Liseberg bunny rabbit ears. ^_^
Kanonen came next, which was much better than expected. Front row again with only a 10 minuet queue. I found it to give a very smooth ride for it's size with a fair bit of force. I dunno why it gets slated so much.
Balder and the last credit next. This coaster blew me away. Probably my number 2 coaster if I actually bothered to rank them. The airtime it gave was amazing and the pace lasted throughout. I'd happily go back to Liseberg just to ride this baby again and again and again.
Having got all the credits, front row on each, with only about an hour of the day gone, we took the last 10 hours slightly slower. Rapids came next, where Marcus found some random flannel thing.
They sold Plopp in Sweden. Having just spent the day at Plopsaland, we had to buy some and try it later!
No queues are made of win!
Me and Mark on Lisebergbanan.
Sexy...
Upswinger came next, which whilst only the same sort of size as Rush, it gave a much better ride purely because it's hanging off the side of a hill!
The shot/drop tower came next, which are your usual S&S towers, nothing special. It was bloody hot though, probably in the early 30's*C, so we stopped for epic messy icecream!
The log flume came next which got me drenched. I was at the front, and a huge wall of water came pouring into the boat after the first drop alone! Check out the ORP in the ORP section of the forums. I don't think i've ever come off so wet on a log flume - I bet Mark will post the photo later.
Rest of the day was basically spent re-riding the coasters.
We hit the observation tower at one point in the afternoon, which gave great views of the coasters and Gothenburg.
Peter enjoying the random rabbit spinny boat ride thing.
Balder Porn <3
Head chopper!
Mark and Peter on the back of Balder!
Time for some more Kanonen.
We finished the day just whoring Balder, then onto Upswinger and a final ride on Lisebergbanan. It was still only about 8pm (park closed at 10pm) and 0 minuet queues still!
We left a few hours early having done everything we wanted, and an early start tomorrow to catch the train to Oslo.
Our floating hotel for the night!
...and that concludes Liseberg! Thanks to Peter and Marcus for an excellent day and acting as our Swedish tour guides (and a lift back to the train station at the end.)
