Legoland - 25th October

I've been wondering if I should bother actually writing a report for Legoland seeing as the park was pretty abysmal to say the least. But I've decided I will purely because of the laugh we had and the epic fireworks.

Annoyingly, when we left Ian's on the Sunday morning with a very full car, the junction we needed to come off on was closed, so we had to take a detour around Ascot to actually get there. As we approached the park, there was already a stupidly long queue to get into the park.

Eventually clearing the traffic on the approach to the park entrance, we ended up getting stuck being a family who had stopped directly in the middle of the road to allow their child to throw up out the door. Pleasant.

We were sent into car park B and ended up parking far away from the entrance. And what didn't help was when we got into the park, Rach remembered she had forgotten her tripod and left it in the car, so a long walk back to the car was in order later in the day.

Once we made it to the entrance, I purposely found a member of staff who could let me in should my Annual Pass refuse to work in the turnstiles, it didn't work and the staff member had walked off.
Finding another staff member who was also dealing with guests with stupid annual passes that don't like to work let me in the park and I went and found the rest of the group before getting my lego brick.

Once we had all the group (minus Goon), we made a break for the stairs and ramps to head down to the main park. We were going to do the DIY tower, but the queue was too long, so instead we went to the toilets before meeting back up and heading for Boating School.

Boating School and an exceptionally long queue that was really not 30 minutes, more like 50! We sorted ourselves into pairs and 50 minutes later we were on and causing back logs of boats all around the track. Mainly by spinning the boats around and them taking ages to go back to facing forwards.

Once we had done that and everyone was off, we met up with Will I Am and headed over to Jungle Coaster for another stupidly slow moving queue!
Stupidly slow it was as well. Said queue consisted of annoying small children and damaging them in the case of Aiden.
Eventually, after what felt like years, we made it into the station and due to a odd number of people, I was left to babysit 2 very annoying screaming children who had got on via the exit.
That was not worth the stupidly long queue time to be tortured by children!

By now, it was already time to break for some lunch. Lunch at Legoland is a very costly affair so we chose to go to Asda the night before and collect some lunch. Happily, that was a good choice of food as food at that place can set you back £10 for a small meal!

I chose this time to walk back to the car to collect my Tripod. I left the table we had managed to find ourselves outside Jungle Coaster half an hour before meet up.
It took 10 minutes to walk back up the hill and by the time I got up there I was not only knackered but suffering for annoying children running into me!
But I did spot a break down on the monorail thing while walking back up.

Eventually, I managed to find the car in the very full car park (cars were parked in the places where you're supposed to leave free so you can get out again)!
Found my Tripod and some hair glowy things and walked back to the park.
Eventually, I was back in the park having my ankles torn to shreds by pushchairs and children walking into me. The hill train had a silly length queue, so I decided to walk!
Bad choice, by the time I got back to the meet up (it was quarter to 2 now) I was hot.

The second best event of the day happened next, avoiding Goon who was clearly distinguishable from the rest of the GP due to yet another costume. Utter utter goon. Lots of running around happened now and lots of bemused looks from the GP.
That took up about 15 minutes, but was highly amusing by the time we had lost him again. :D

The gay dragon and the bigger gay dragon had stupidly long queues, so we thought we'd do the Log Flume. No chance, that had a horrid queue as well. Thinking what to do next, we headed for some of the best Rapids in the UK!

The queue seemed quite long when we got there, but from the past 2 years experiences, we knew it would move quickly! I don't think we even stayed still for longer than a couple of seconds in that queue! When we got on about 20 minutes later, we were greeted with a nice wet boat and we knew we were bound to get drowned from it!

Trying to hide under coats but still keeping my camera in the bag dry was not easy. In the end once we had cleared the water cannons, I took the coat from over my head and braced it!
It was very wet, but highly eventful. The rapids there are awesome! They are some of the best ones in the UK, probably the best tbh! Now moist, we spilt for a bit and went to find Badger.

Me, Ian and Vadge headed down to find Badger while en route visiting the toilets and being killed by the sheer volume of people. My eagle eye spotted Badger and daughter sitting at the restaurant near the Log Flume. Once we had found them, they came with us and we headed for the smoking area in the park.
Even as a non smoker, I can imagine how annoying that is for smokers having to go right into the middle of the park for a fag! It is a family park, but they should have more than one smoking area! Sort it out Legoland!

Once fag times had happened, we went back up to the top of the park where everyone else was waiting for us. DIY tower was going to be done now, but yet again, the thing had silly queue times.

We noticed in Mini World that Stone Cold and Leighton were looking around, so from the balcony we were stood on, everyone shouted Rah Rah Rah which got their attention and the attention of everyone in mini world.

Oh and Heathrow is very close to Legoland.

So we walked around the park looking for something that didn't have silly queue times, we found; nothing.
Some of us ended up sitting on a tree for a bit, while Aiden, Stone Cold and Leighton went to amuse themselves in a play area type thing.
Once we had got bored of that, we made our way to the Hill Train and went to see what was on at the 4D cinema.

Bored out of our skulls, we decided to actually go in the 4D cinema despite the film being Bob the Builder. We had to wait a while for the film to start. But I actually really enjoyed it despite being 17. But I don't think I was the only one that enjoyed it.
They were building a Coaster, so it was all very gooney for us enthusiasts. :p

By now, it had got dark and the countdown to the fireworks had started. While most people went to get food and drink, the rest of us went and set up camp at our usual position for fireworks.
I had brought my tripod for firework photos cause I am a goon. So I set that up and ended up moving to the bottom of the stairs.
I customized my tripod so people could see where the legs of it were with Glow sticks.

We had to wait around half an hour for it, but in all honesty it was spectacular! I didn't have the right lens on my camera cause I'm a goon so I found it a bit difficult to get the photos right.

But here are some of the best.

And that was the best event of the day! Legoland open some rides again after Fireworks so that people can get out the park easily! As always, we head down to the bigger gay dragon for a ride in the dark.
Lots of pushing and shoving later and grabbing onto people so you don't lose them we made it down there.
It was diabolical how they handle this. Clearly there should be some sort of barrier that people use to get up from the bottom of the park to the top and vice versa.
My ankles suffered again thanks to a twat with one of those carts for the kids. ****ing nob she was. She was trying to get into the queue going down the park and trying to knock everyone over in the process. TWAT!

Eventually we managed to get down to the bigger gay dragon. We queued for well over an hour for it, but it is so much better at night. We amused ourselves in the queues by trying to throw glow sticks on some of the lego things around the queue. Even some of the GP were joining in with our enthusiasm.

We got into the station and before long we were on. Fun ride but not worth the queue.
We all had had enough by then, so decided to head for the Hill Train and back up to the top of the hill.
We got back up, met back up with Ian, Jake and Laura who didn't ride the bigger gay dragon and headed for the exit.

Exiting took a RIDICULOUS amount of time! It took 40 minutes for us to get out of Legoland, along the roads outside and onto the M4. It was diabolical! By the end of that we were all shattered and after a couple of sensible drinks headed for bed before another day of theme parks tomorrow.

I was there and it was an OK day out, thanks solely to the people that were there.

Not much to add really apart from I won't return next year. The queues inside the park and to get out of the bloody car park put me off greatly.

Sounds even worse than last year at Legoland :S Maybe they'll start doing pre-booked tickets ala Thorpe? Although I doubt it would have much effect..

I hate Legoland, that's the main reason I didn't come this year. Looks like the horrific day and queues were worth it for the fireworks though!

The fireworks are something else though. I've now been 3 years in a row and the amazement doesn't wear off. As I live close by, however, I don't feel the need to try and make a day of it at Legoland, therefore the queues don't bother me and it's well worth the effort. I have previously shown up at 4, looked around Miniland for a bit before sitting down and waiting for the show to begin. If your an AP holder, or think it's worth £16 (BOGOF) to see the fireworks, you must go.
