The Green Lantern B&M standup coaster (formerly known as Chang at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom) opens this Wednesday, May 25th,
at Six Flags Great Adventure, but season pass holders got three days of exclusive riding this past Thursday-Saturday.
A few of us made it to the park to take advantage of the sneak peek.
Here's my trip report & I'm sure that Justin & Jer will add their impressions as well.
The Green Lantern uses the entrance from the Great American Scream Machine...
...which was scrapped to make room for this coaster.
Earlier the kiddies were playing & climbing all over the giant lantern (which you can see in the off-ride video below).
Probably won't take long until one falls & injures themselves...
...so the parents will try to sue & a security guard will have to keep them away.
Wonder how long he'll stay looking that good?
OK, on into the queue line...
...where they have storyboards similar to those in the Bizarro queue lines.
They tell the story of how he went from being a test pilot...
...then receiving the ring...
...to becoming a member of the Green Lantern Corps...
..and the powers bestowed within the ring...
...that he can evoke by saying the oath.
The next thing you see after exiting the queue line "building" is his jet.
Other than the storyboards, the Green Lantern symbols & the couple of giant cutouts of Hal...
...this is the only other bit of themeing.
The queue line wanders all around & under the coaster...
...so you can see just about everything from every angle.
So you get great views of the track...
...and the coaster...
...flying by.
They have awnings under the track...
...in the spots where the coaster passes overhead.
I'm inclined to be liking this queue line.
The turn around over the station...
...from each side of the awning.
The inclined loop from a different angle.
Is that train from Chang or Riddler's Revenge?
The building I was wondering about in my updates is the on-ride photo booth...
...but they do offer refreshments as I thought they would.
Station signage...
...and another Green Lantern cutout.
There's a third train in there somewhere.
Just when you think you're there, another queue area is behind the station...
...with more storyboards...
..to complete the background story.
The instruction manual.
At least this queue area is only half the size of the one at the entrance.
I forgot to take photos inside the station, but you can see that in the off-ride video.
In case you forgot what coaster you're on.
Most of the layout.
Dive loopage.
The wandering queue line...
...wanders all up & under this baby.
For all you MCBR lovers out there.
That's a whole lotta B&M goodness right there!
The view as you exit the station.
One last stop by the photo booth to get the train ascending the lift hill...
...going down the drop...
...and around the loop.
One of these days I'm going to have to hang out under Superman to get a good shot of both of them.
Dive loop silhouette...
...and close-up!
Here it comes...
...zooming by!
Oh & let's not forget about the paint already wearing off (to continue the discussion from the construction topic).
So that about covers everything, except the movie tie-in posters.
