There were rumors for a longer time, but those rumors are confirmed now. Compagnie des Alpes will open their first Walibi-park outside Europe in 2013. Former Sinibad Park, close to Casablanca, will transform into the first African Walibipark.

French CdA will not build a complete new park, but will renovate the small Sinibad Park at the coast of Casablanca in Morocco, that closed its doors in 2008. The local gouvernment was looking for a new investor the past two years to give the closed park a new destination.

Together with 4 other investors, CdA will pump over 225 million EUR in this project. Other than the park, the Sinibad Park will also get a zoo, a museum, nature-project and a residence for Morrocan people. The park is supposed to open its doors at the end of 2013!

Cool! Casablanca is nice, if a little grotty, but it could do with something like this. I believe there aren't any operating creds in Morocco ATM, so theres definately a gap in the market.

The park will probably suck though (as would anywhere full of moroccans!).

This is great an all, but when are CdA going to start pumping that amount of cash into their UK park?

The almighty Pleasurewood Hills. They bought it in 2005, and they said it would become the 'Walibi World of the UK'.....

They could sure start to pump some money into their Belgium and Netherlands parks as well! According to rcdb the last addition of a (functional) coaster (Goliath) to either of the parks was back 2002..
