Welcome to South Parade Pier in Portsmouth. Where you'll find the finest rides of their kind in the world among the hustle and bustle of masses of people flocking from the four corners of the globe to stare at the sea.

Can we tempt you in our thrilling canoe ride that you can pretend is a record breaking log flume with the worlds lowest drop. You'll have to bring your own boat though.

Or maybe take a spin on our completely safe Waltzer. The seats are only rotting slightly and if you weigh less than a bag of sugar your car should hopefully hold up :)

If the rides are too much for you then why not have a game of crazy golf? You'll have great fun trying some of our impossible to win holes. Just don't lose your ball or you'll have to swim for it.
46500_1589632617798_1145311439_1715057_854036_n.jpg

All rides are set at £2 each which is fantastic value. Just come up and talk to our invisible member of staff for your invisible tokens.

If you catch us on the rare occurrence where the park is empty. Then please do not climb on the rides. The Ladybirds don't like it.

No ride attendant nearby? Don't fret, for you can control your own ride. Wanna go slow? That's ok! Wanna go fast? That's ok too. Warning: No responsibility on our part for any injuries you may receive.
46500_1589632777802_1145311439_1715060_2357919_n.jpg

Let your imagination run wild as you pretend to be whatever you want on our rides. Anything from a cowboy, a race car driver or even a spaceman with our state of the art rocket in the middle.
46500_1589632817803_1145311439_1715061_5822188_n.jpg

Don't worry. All our rides are built on top-notch, above standard foundations, so there is no chance of the ride collapsing beneath you, or rolling away on the wheels which we use to transport our amazing rides around.
46500_1589632857804_1145311439_1715062_1096837_n.jpg

There's simply hundreds of rides here to choose from. Wherever you look there's rides. Don't be put off by the massive crowds. Just think of it as a cheaper, more exciting Alton Towers :)
46500_1589632897805_1145311439_1715063_8166222_n.jpg

Our workers are top notch and always there to help with anything you may need. Although, in the case we aren't there to help, just help yourself. If you fancy a game of hook a duck, go for it. Although we cannot always guarantee there will be hooks. Or ducks....

Tired out? Of course you would be after all that exploring and excitement that we offer! So why not take a seat on one of our comfy benches. You won't regret it, that's for sure :)
59043_1589633497820_1145311439_1715067_465464_n.jpg

You ever dreamt of just hopping on a train and going wherever you want? Well now you can! So long as that dream place is somewhere on our circular track. But be warned, our trains might eye up certain areas on your body

But be warned, they won't admit it. Nor will their friends. When asked Percy was commented as saying "Percy ain't seen nothin'!"

We can't wait for your visit, and I'm sure you can't wait either!
Anyway, enough of that.
On to the serious bit.

Whilst we were "enjoying" this place, we saw what we thought was a ride worker. So we got off the rides. However, it turned out to be something much more sinister. This guy decided to climb over the railings and jump into the sea.

We thought he was drunk or something, so just watched. It soon became apparent he was in danger and some other people jumped in to help him. He was struggling to stay up so 2 men jumped in to help him.

The coastguard and a paramedic soon arrived, with the police arriving a while after.

After he was rescued, the helpers swam back to shore and were helped by paramedics and obviously swarmed by crowds. We found out soon after from a journalist that the guy had previously attempted the jump the night before, but hadn't made it, so had come back. We assume from the fact he cried for help that he had changed his mind about what he was doing.

The pictures were taken on a mobile, so sorry for the poor quality

Edit: Got a video as well.

^He was upset the rides were closed. Or that he lived in Pompey. Maybe a mix of the two.

What a **** hole. I'm so glad I've never been unfortunate enough to actually visit somewhere like that.

Oh, and I lol'd at the jumper. No offence or anything, and I know some people are desperate, but seriously?

Plus, that pier needs one of these.
It did. All over the pier. It said No Jumping and No Diving. They're both the same thing really except one's head first. He jumped in by a no fishing sign though so I guess he thought it meant you only can't jump right next to the sign. :p

The story was in the local paper today. Should've sent your photograph in Ollie/Maddie.

That area is so neglected, it's what happens when its all privately owned in sections, the council can't do nothing. The derelict nightclubs opposite the pier can't be built on because the landowner (apparently Harry Redknapp) has refused any building at the moment.

^Have you got the article still? Forgot to get the local paper?
I was thinking about it. But thought it would be too poor quality to send in.

I didn't even know that pier park existed. It looks so tack, I have to visit!

Is that opposite where Time/Envy used to be/still is?

^I was going to send pictures, but, I'm lazy.

"A father and son visiting Portsmouth from the Czech Republic ran into the water to save him, but got into difficulties themselves under the pier."

Well that's not true!
They were fine, they even said they would swim to shore themselves and then they got medical assistance there.

Ian, we just parked in the car park for the Pyramids and walked from there. It's not that far.

Got a video as well here showing a bit of the helicopter rescue. Just when they finally reached the man in the water my phone memory filled up.
