Chain problem on Vortex at Kings Island

This is probably old news, but here goes...

The chain on Vortex at Kings Island apparently suffered damage the other week (4th July weekend). Riders were safely evacuated from the Arrow looper's lift hill. The 24 year old coaster has remained closed since the incident, but is expected to re-open soon.

Due to conflicting reports, it's unclear what actually happened. Some reports suggest that the control system on the ride sensed a weakness in the chain, where others are suggesting it actually snapped.

That happened the day before we were at Kings Island & from what we could see the were working on the chain itself, which looked complete (no break in the chain). However that doesn't mean that the chain didn't snap. of course.
It did that to spite me, since the main reason we went was to get an on-ride of Vortex as that's the only coaster at the park I haven't got a POV of.
