LOL at the thought of seeing some Log Flume boats casually floating away in the atlantic!

Anyway, those pictures are pretty amazing, I hope both places can recover and re-build.

My friend Billy Major, the guy who owns Funtown, isn't sure it's worth his investment to rebuild his pier. The dude basically lost 30 years of investment, sans 3-4 rides. It certainly won't be the same summer in New Jersey anymore, especially for someone who's lived a great chunk of their life right on those sands.

On the other hand, the loss of two seaside fairs might cause a gap in the market, allowing for some future businessman to build a new one there one day. It's the circle of life, so to say.

And concerning the Star Jet: Was it earlier raised to the same level as the rest of the park, or did it stand a lot lower than the cut-off pier we see higher up on the beach? It seems weird that the entire coaster dropped four metres straight down in one piece... that is, unless it's still standing on a large slab of pier that simply collapsed vertically. Hard to see what's under the water there.

Fell backwards and to the right (looking at the photo right). The ass end of that pier was about 40-50 feet tops from where the pier fell apart.

The Star Jet was at the same level as the Wild Mouse that's still standing. It was located in left corner nearest to the ocean, so my guess is that the entire section of the pier collapsed & is still connected to the track underwater.

I'll dig up some photos I took earlier this summer & post them a little later.

Own up, some of you would count that as a new credit because it's moved.

Or I could make an aqua-trax joke.

But I'll leave it at that for now.

What about insurance?

The damage from this can fall under the "Act of God" clause, which means you get nothing from the insurance companies (like about 60% of the people in Seaside Heights right now).

I still haven't had the chance to search for the photos I took of the two Seaside Heights piers, but we did get power back this afternoon & I was able to post a couple of videos. Each video also includes news clips of Hurricane Sandy damage to the piers.

From what was said on tv hear people will get help to rebuild.

Obama also said they would help businesses to get back on their feet.

Doesn't mean the insurance companies are paying them for it, that's outside people helping to fund the rebuilding.

^MTV did a report showing the "Jersey Shore" house was not damaged by hurricane Sandy.

The Jersey Shore house should have been the ONLY thing damaged by the hurricane.

Looks like my rare prayer didn't get answered.

No word on if the Barrier Islands have been opened back up to the public yet, right now all it's been is military and political figures.

Billy Major will not be investing in rebuilding Funtown Pier. According to him there are only two rides that are immediately salvageable (Top Spin, Frisbee) which weathered the storm very well, and it's going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $3 million dollars just to clean up all the damage.

According to my dad Long Beach Island will be opened up to the property owners for a few hours tomorrow, and that they're only allowing them in via bus. Sorry ECG, but you won't be able to get pics until at least 10 days from now.
