I decided to have a day at AT with Scott from PBE, we had a great day. The Monorail didn't want to play in the morning, and after about 15minutes of watching 3-4 trains enter, then leave and the queue not move a mild rant took place before we decided to walk to the gate. Here I had a look at Corky, a ride whose absence I still think leaves a hole in Alton’s line up. After that we headed for the Dark Forest via the Sky ride, which is was good to see back in operation.

Alton have done a great job with rebuilding the station for this ride, however they did take long enough about it!

So, Thirteen. The queue line is well laid out well, offering some good views of Rita and the surrounding area. The building is really well themed, with a look of Saw from TP in places. The ride has a very high throughput; the line doesn’t allow you to stay still for long at all, especially when running all 3 trains. The seats are quite comfortable, and lap bars are not heavy or of a pin-able variety, which is all good.

The ride leaves the station, turns left and heads for the lift. This pre-lift turn is very forceful for the size of the dip out of the station, and the lift is fast and smooth. The first drop is steep, and fast (until some brakes spoil it) and is followed by a tight helix to the right, which leads you into a series of airtime hills, which do give some very nice moments of airtime. They also combine some light banking which is pleasing. This section of the ride could have gone on a little longer to make the ride slightly better.

You head up the second lift and turn into the crypt. The door behind you closes, and the status in the building are illuminated. Then there is a loud bang and the lights go out and the track drops slightly, a second or two later your free-falling about 20-25ft and being dropped backwards into a helix, as you come back into daylight, you stop in line with the station, before you get ‘launched’ back into the station.

A great ride, the airtime is very good, and the park is busier that it was last year during the week, and I’m sure installing a new coaster has something to so with that.

I’m not overly fond of Rita’s new ‘theme’ the trains look awful, and the station voice over is poor. However, the track looks good now it’s got moss in some places.

Elsewhere on the park it was business as usual, and luckily the Monorail was back open later in the day.
