Coming to ZDT's in 2015 - Switchback! Inspired by the first roller coaster in America, Switchback Railway at Coney Island, ZDT's Switchback will be the only wooden shuttle coaster in the world! Designed by Gravity Group, this EXTREME family coaster will take a 64 ft over-hill initial drop, provide multiple airtime moments, a 104 degree over-banked turn, fly through a building, and travel up a 65 ft spire, only to descend and run the whole track again in reverse! This will not only be the first modern wooden shuttle coaster, but also the first shuttle coaster that doesn't sacrifice the traditional lift hill and drop by employing a track-switch at the bottom of the first hill to take you back to the train station when the ride has been completed! The train-themed Switchback will feature Timberliner cars which maximize not only age and size of riders, but also comfort and safety! We're confident that the whole family will absolutely love this EXTREME family ride!

Looks fun. The timberliner trains are fab too, should be a good addition to this park. Speaking of which, I've not heard of this park before, I take it they're a tiny family park?

I wonder how the "Bottom of the first drop to station" thing will work out, but it sure does look fun!

Yes yes looks fantastic! So excited to see more of these cute little GG family woodies. The spire with the 90 degree bank is weird as ****, but I love and the front of the train looks awesome as well. Should be great.

Really gives a perspective of how tight this things going to be! Had in my head it would be much bigger than this.

Same! I guess you can never guess how a GG will turn out. It can be spread out like the new one at Tayto Park, or tight like Twister at Gröna Lund.

This will probably be similar to the family woodies Gravity Group have recently made (i.e. Wooden Warrior or RoS). I don't expect anything too intense, but plenty of thrills and airtime in a tight space.

Damn that footprint is small. Seems like a neat little coaster.

Fascinating idea, does this thing go along another track on the way back?
What exactly is going on with this thing??
If it's due to open 2015 I have to say, this is very under the radar

All we need is a launched wooden now!

Re: ZDT's Amusement | Switchback | Gravity Group Shuttle Coa

^ It's going to go up the lift, through the course, but it goes up a banked spike. After going backwards, it stops in a straight section after the drop, which(like a transfer track) moves back to the station. A second train is also available, but all I can imagine is stacking on the lift/station. Still looks fun though!

Ah dang, I was hoping it would transfer to another track and continue the ride in a whole different fashion, I guess like Exp Everest.

Still a cool idea!

^ Well, with the small footprint, and the park's popularity, what would've you expected? :p
