I tried it about 5 years ago.

I smoked it through a pipe and didn't feel any different fro 10 mins. All of a sudden I was laying on my bed and it felt like I was sinking into the sheets.

Well, not sinking, but flying on a sheet, I could feel the sheet underneath me but it felt like I was up in the sky.

The room then went all hazy and my mind made me think I was in the sea. I could see a sandy beach. All the time I had this sinking sensation.

After about 15 mins, I was more or less back to normal. The space in my bedroom seemed larger than before. As I tried to walk it off, the room felt massive. 30 minutes later, I had entered a monged out phase, similar to an hour after smoking weed.

I enjoy drugs such as weed or alcohol as I'm aware of my limits, I'm not stupid and I don't put myself or anybody else in danger. I like the highs I get from weed and booze, it can temporally change my attitude and personality for a short period of time, without making me hallucinate or scare me.

Salvia did make me hallucinate and I did feel uneasy during my "flight". I've not touched it since. Somebody, somewhere probably enjoys it - I don't. As for the legalisation question - I don't really mind. If somebody has their heart set on doing a drug, they'll get hold of it somehow. It's just not a drug for me.

Me and a friend tried it last year at uni and it made both of us go crazy for like, 5 minutes.

I can't even remember anything... so there wasn't really a point, haha!

I don't think it should be illegal really, I don't think abuse of it is a problem... people only seem to try it once or twice and realise that it's not for them, or they progress to illegal hallucinogens (Shrooms, LSD, 2CB etc).

Hahaha, drug inspired art is always, without fail, awful.

Keep it legal. Drugs should be legal, take the 'fun' out of it. (Not against drugs, just think its silly to ban so many of them)

As it's such a short term effect, then I don't really see much issue, but the problem at the moment is there's no control.

Maxi-Minor_Furie could legally buy Salvia and use it at four! Something wrong there for sure...

You'll have to keep your eye on him then Furie

Like has already been said there is not much point in making it illegal...

People will still get hold of it and it really isn't the drug itself that is a problem and more the misuse of it and such...

Never tried it though.... wouldn't want to either....

I hate being out of control of myself...

No.

Making it illegal would just draw attention to it. I'd be willing to bet that most people in the U.K have no idea what it is. Although it is legal, it's nowhere near as prolific as weed, which isn't. What's the point of advertising something you want fewer people to be taking?

Never tried it myself.

thx

^Agreed.

For the record it's illegal here. Funny thing is in Finland (and Sweden) the herb 'Sage' (salvia officinalis) is just called Salvia here.

^ Ahh, thanks for clearing that up...

It made me a bit perplexed when I read the title.
Bit as you said, it's already banned so there isn't much we can do here...

It looks cool but it's nothing I'm really gonna go out and try right away, though I hear it's a crazy trip. Even weed and alcohol have weird and almost backwards effects on me, but if people enjoy doin it and it doesn't hurt them in any way, then heck, go for it..

That picture's pretty good in my opinion! I've probably been taking too many drugs in yours...!

I hope I don't come across as being mindlessly 'pro-drugs' here but I read in New Scientist magazine that the most effective way to reduce drug related problems might be to actually legalise drugs. Portugal have certainly had reasonable success by softening their drug laws.

*edit*

I've tried salvia a few times and it's been fascinating and hilarious! Not tried it very strong but various things happened like the table turned into a boat and then into a reservoir. I think it's best to use if you are trying it with someone you always end up in hysterics with (the good hysterics). Either that or chilled out on your own.

It's a good crack..... but then I'm not exactly stingy with my intake of 'controlled' substances.... I'd make most drugs legal if I had the power to tbh, would save alot of trouble. So yeah, soemthing like salvia should be legal imo.

Nope it shouldn't be legal, just like Cannabis, no drugs should be legal. Of course apart from pharmaceuticals.

Long live the alcoholic beverage!

^ Alcohol is a drug, take your double standards and leave.

...I'm a recreational drug user and am VERY glad Salvia is banned.

All drugs should be decriminalised full stop.

Salvia has never done much for me, in any dosage, found it to be quite disappointing but should not be illegal.

The mass media and political scare mongering regarding drugs absolutely enrages me. Like this BS campaign in the papers at the moment regarding methadone. It's just another moral panic, it's not my thing, but if people want to take it then that’s up to them. The information (real information, not government 'facts') is out there on the net for all to see.

Nowadays I don't touch drugs very often at all, but when I did I had a simple process. If I wanted to try something, I went online; I found out the normal starting dose, I found out the effects, the dangers, the desired results. In short, I did my home work, took the drugs, laughed my arse off and had a great time, usually in the privacy of my own home or a friends.

It's about time people took responsibility for themselves, and stopped listening to our all powerful all knowledgeable politicians and tabloid columnists on the matter.

I also find that with complete and utter failure of capitalism democracy and religion the world over, the "it funds terrorism" debates don't break the skin with me either.

I’ll finish with this quote, I cite it to much, but I love it. "Here is my final point, about drugs, about alcohol, about pornography, whatever that is. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, or take into my body as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet? And for those of you out there who're having a little moral dilemma in your head about how to answer that question, I'll answer it for you - none of your ****ing business. Take that to the bank, cash it." Bill Hicks

That's definitely wrong, no two ways about it. You say it's "none of our business", but SOMETIMES people really do have to step in to save certain people from themselves.

I'm not against all drugs - cannabis is fine, so is salvia, and there are a few others. Drugs like heroin and cocaine ruin lives though, and they HAVE to be controlled to stop more people destroying themselves. Not everything should be controlled, the treatment of cannabis by the media and government is a joke, but the more dangerous ones need to be controlled.

Alot of it isn't anyone else's business, but when normal, good, hard-working people start throwing their lives away by getting addicted to hard drugs, it definitely does become our ****ing business. If you've ever seen a friend destroy themselves on heroin or crystal meth then you'd know what I mean, if not then you're probably more inclined to believe nonsense such as "it's no-one's business but theirs". Sorry, but I'm not going to let people ruin themselves because of the notion of freedom, there ARE limits to that freedom. There has to be - simply because you want to do something doesn't mean you should be allowed to be, regardless of whether or not it harms others.

As for mephedrone, I'm sick of seeing my friends turn into zombies. Unlike drugs like cannabis and alcohol it does seem to have long-term effects. Also, it's only just sprung onto the scene and it's already killed quite a few people, which does add to the problem. I'd like to see in-depth research into it before it's banned though, I want to know what is media hype and what isn't. And of those who died I'd like to know the exact circumstances, eg. how much did they take, did they take anything else such as alcohol, and so on. Don't want to jump the gun but the long-term effects I'm seeing tend to point towards it needing to be controlled.

Back onto the main subject - salvia is a laugh, it does not need to be illegal at all. Someone needs to put an age limit on it though, as someone said earlier there's something wrong about little kids legally being allowed to take this.
