Of Coasters and Parks that Could Have Been...

TIL the mysterious bobsled coaster that appeared on Phantasialand park maps back in the 80s was a never-built Intamin Swiss Bob that was meant to intertwine with the park’s former log flume. Allegedly it was cancelled because Efteling and Europa were both building similar attractions at the time, and the space was eventually used for Colorado Adventure instead.

As a San Diego native I feel obligated to mention the first blueprints of Arctic Rescue that had four launches and looked much better than what we have now.

Ghostrider's original layout as seen on the park map as well as El Toro Ryan's problematic coaster episode.

Ahahah speaking of Ghostrider.....

Grain o' salt, but this Reddit comment says that GhostRider was meant to be given the RMC treatment while Hurler KD was to be given a retrack. Things changed; GhostRider got the retrack and Hurler got the conversion.

CEDAR FAIRS TRY NOT TO TAKE EVERY GOOD PLAN FROM KNOTTS BERRY FARM CHALLANGE (IMPOSSIBLE)

(srrly though, why does knotts almost get the best additions in the cedar fair cain only from cedar fair to give to somewhere else)

GhostRider is an elite ride. It didn't need RMC.
And Knott's got Xcelerator and Hangtime after Cedar Fair took over. The park is doing fine. :p

im also refering to the multipul rumored giga's and maybe the (rumored) blitz style coaster where poney express is

Without joking, something like this is fine. It’s something unique for the region. KD needs proper attractions and this is one that will impress guests.

Apparently, Hypersonic was meant to be replaced by a Huss Frisbee?

EDIT: There was a failed attempt to RMC Boss at SFSTL, slated for 2021/2022. It would've been themed to Poison Ivy and basically gotten rid of one of the most boring parts of the ride IMO. It probably would've been absolutely epic. Alas.....

There was also a plan to retheme Pandemonium to Harley Quinn which is also off the table.

We now have what appears to be the definitive Volcano removal reason. Grain of salt, of course, but....

TL;DR: KD used non-Intamin parts on Volcano, Intamin halted a multi-million dollar renovation until they got more money to do a larger refurb, and CF had so much bad blood with Intamin that they cancelled the refurb entirely
