I am sure any manufacturer could produce a basic loop...

Activity is back underway on Montezooma, for better or worse. The backwards spike is starting to be dismantled.

How much of the original coaster is going to be preserved?

So unless they keep the spikes, or find a Schwarzkopf loop they can refurb, basically Montezuma's Revenge as we know it, has been dismantled. For no reason other than Cedar Fair didn't want to maintain a staple ride in the park that has been there for 45 effing years, and could have stayed for another 30.

A ridiculous travesty for a ride that has treated the park so well.

If true, what they put in its place will be nothing close to feeling like the original.

Hate is a strong word, but obviously I am not a fan about any of this.

Oh God...the L.A. Karen is back! Just be happy we got anything. The rides service life was over at least 15 years ago, there was no way in hell CF was going to keep the original, it was deteriorating, and not popular. It will stay for longer now with new tech. Before you speak, do some homework, or learn some basics of engineering and OSHA/legal regulations. Also to say those trains were sketch is an undertstament, and Im sure the legal departments didn't like that. Also, look at the track pieces as shown on the thread above...they are in piss poor condition, and there is no way they could handle new trains launching full speed.

So please buddy...with all do respect, shut up!

One cannot generally say that a ride lifetime is over after xx years. It depends on many factors. First is wear and tear - a coaster at a small more remote park wil age slower as there are less opening days and less audience - a LA park however as by far the most wear and tear on its rides I assume. The next factor is ride care - how often does the park repaint the ride etc and how often is the manufacturer on site to do service - and agreed this coasters tracks do not look so good. And most imporant: Does the park really want to keep the original coaster despite higher costs. It has been done for SooperDooperLooper and Turbine - while I assume a new ride might have been cheaper and more thrilling - this maybe oversimplifying it as other facters might come in here like how integrated is the coaster with other coasters/rides that also needs to be touched (Hersheypark) or do you even get a permit for new coaster at the same location (Walibi Belgium).

If you have a good serviced and cared for coaster - despite high costs - it can last more than 50 years. Even while moved multiple times a year two Schwarzkopf Wildcat from the mid-60s are still on the German funfair circuit and pass all modern TÜV safety tests each year.

Went back to check the progress of construction.
Tracks for the Camp Snoopy Train have been removed, The monte spike (seen in my previous post) is now gone.
And the newest changes is that some of the supports for the spike have been removed.
Aside from that, no movement at station yet.
