Go pro filming in dark rides

Hi.

I have just got a new go pro and would like to use it to film dark rides.

Does anyone have any tips? I'm a bit worried about white balance with all the lights.

Also how is it best to carry the camera? I have a pistol grip that would be fine to just hold but would prefer to mount it if possible.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I haven't actually used the Hero 3, but I'm told they still struggle in the dark.

I have a Hero 1 and it does OK in low light, but in the dark there's next to no point. The camera is trying too hard to compensate for the low light levels and you just get grainy blurry footage.

Thanks for the replies. Saw a homemade rig where the gopro screws into the tripod hole on the compact camera so you can record with them both at the same time. Might give that a go

This is what I am going to try!

If your compact camera is "god" ( ;) ), forget the GoPro and save the mount space.

My recommendation? Bring a flare.

Haha. I do have chubby thumbs! Going to try it once and see. Like the idea of being able to cut to a wide shot occasionally.
