Re: Djurs Sommerland 2016 - New Family Ride (And Future)

Gerstlauer Polyp and updated service- and eating facilities announced today.

Another great investment for the park, which indeed has an exciting future ahead!

These are actually quite fun little rides, I would LOVE to see some of the effects like on th concept art with the cannons, but know it's probably just there to make it interesting. That would truly make it a fantastic little ride to watch as a spectator.

That is great news and I really love the concept art!

I do have a feeling that they are exaggerating the price tag a bit, I can't imagine that this alone is costing 20 million DKK.

So, apparently the Gerstlauer Polyp is a bit delayed although the park still claims it'll be ready sometime in may.

Djurs posted this picture today on their FB showing a cool new playground though, but as you can see to the right, not much is going on at the Polyp site...

The new ride opened the 21st of may and I made a visit to the park to check it out.
As expected it’s another great Gerstlauer Poyp, solid forces for a family ride and yet again Djurs has made a good effort at the theming.

See for yourself:

Looks nice, the theming looks pretty decent too.
What's with the extremely wide paths though?

Some extreme overreacting going on in here. It's a mediocre filler attraction with a bit of theming.

What's wrong with being excited about a new ride? I for one love Gerstlauer Polyps and are really happy that one of my home parks are getting one, it's also a project I've been following from behind the scenes for some time so **** me for getting stoked about it opening right? :?

^Nothing wrong with looking forward to a ride; I just said that people are going slightly over the top for what is a very basic - and, let's face it, old - ride type. It's a decent enough filler addition, but incredibly unremarkable. Sorry, it just is.

Agreed. Hence my 'scattered theming' comment.

Of course I love to see this old 70s Schwarzkopf design lives on - but I do not really like the seat dividers. On the old Schwarzkopf ones by moving your weight from side to side you could make the single compartments spin so fast!
