Thinking of going to Alton sometime this year but sadly as I am a hard up student I can't drive. I know that Stoke on Trent, Uttoxoter and Derby are meant to be the closest, but which one has the easiest way to get to the park via bus after the train ride?

Just for a bit of trip planning, how busy is the park in early November time? Last time I went was in the summer (a good 4, 5 or 6 years ago) and there was a normal crowd. Would it be empty because of the cold or busier because it is one of the closing days of the season?
