I’m going to be in the US at the end of May/start of June, and I’m trying to rejig my plans to fit in a visit.
I’m having flashbacks to when I booked a last-minute trip to SFMM when it had closure looming over it, except this time it is a matter of when and not if.

Safari Day - Pilanesberg National Park
I booked myself a one day Safari tour at Pilanesberg National Park which involved a disgustingly early 5:30 am pick up from Gold Reef City.
Our group was about 10 of us, and as I was the first to be picked up, I got a tour of downtown Johannesburg very...
DC Rivals is one of those coasters I'd love to check out. Superman also looks pretty decent. Would defo do a visit on a quieter day if they operate their rides like that, because I don't fancy getting cooked on the brakerun or queuing an hour for an SFC that I've done elsewhere.
HWFG then - a day at Gold Reef City. After blessing the rains down in Africa when I arrived at the resort yesterday, I’m glad to say that today it wasn’t raining.
I will say at this point that I booked the trip around three big coasters being open. And I delighted to say they all were.

I’ve had Gold Reef City on my theme park bucket list for over 20 years. So when the chance came to take some extra holiday in January, I figured it was finally time to scratch that two decades old itch and pay a visit. And for the icing on the cake, I spent a week in Dubai on the way back to...
What a great Live that was! Even though the spite was big, the day was loads of fun and full of laughs. Thank you @Serena for organising it and everyone for making it such a fun day out!
Thanks to years and years of driving to lots of UK gigs and UK theme parks, there's not many I haven't done. And whilst I cannot be bothered to go through the full list, there's a few things which are easy to remember.
Tebay & Gloucester are the best in the UK, hands down.
The newer Extra...
Really sad to hear, this is one of the top 5 most intense coasters I’ve ever done.
Can’t imagine it was cheap to maintain, and parts aren’t gonna be in abundance. But if you were lucky enough to ride it then you’ll know what a bonkers ride it was.
I really like the Skyrockets as well, and I'd pick them over Ice Breaker any day.
Both of them are ruined by the awful trains which need burning and dumping far out at sea. But Ice Breaker felt really clumsy and uncomfortable the whole way around. If it had better trains, I might be swayed.
It gets really hard to pick a top 10, let alone a number 1 when you get into silly numbers. But for the sake of argument I'm gonna use Iron Gwazi (1) at BGT and Wildfire at Kolmarden (2). It also completely depends on so many things - when you rode them, who you rode them with, how warm was it...
Easily my most successful years were 2007 and 2015, both had about 270 new coasters in each.
Last year was my best for a year long time, getting 90 in a single year. Had a very lean period from 2016-2020.
