Think I'm in the same boat here, but Efteling has surprised me in the past, so who knows. But what I can tell is that the two smaller buildings (cafe and restrooms) that have already been finished really look great. (I've been there about three weeks ago.)
@MagicMountainFan: I'm trying to wrap my head around why it's such big deal for you to leave a park early and why you keep on emphasizing that it's a privilege to be able to visit Europa. TBO, I don't get it. Maybe that's what you call "out of touch". I'd say, I'm pretty much in touch with what...
I really don't like the sponsoring. It gives it some cheap taste. Honestly, I wouldn't have any problem to pay a bit more to enjoy the park without it (I mean, provided the park actually needs it to do those investments). There is a reason I was at Europa only once in the last 10 years while...
Maybe they kept the hight record for the next iteration, top thrill three ;D hence the name... Anyway, I actually like colors as well. Just the white an grey looked a bit blunt but now it works out. Trains also look great. Regardarding the height of the spike: As much as I would have thought...
There is no doubt that the drop down that spike will be epic and I even don't think that an extra 40ft or so will make that much of a difference for the ride experience. I'm just talking about the marketing point of view.
From a marketing perspective, going for a 420 ft spike just makes as little sense to me as spoiling those news one day before the big announcement. So either this is an odd choice for getting some extra publicity (and they will actually announce to crack the 456 ft tomorrow) or it's... well just...
As the video is blocked, could someone who saw it explain and give an assessment of what it implies? I personally find it very hard to believe they are not taking the height record with that spike. Makes absolutely no sense to me.
Well, after all we are talking about a racing *theme* which wouldn't necessarily imply it's a racing coaster anyway. There are coasters themed to flying that are not flying coaster (Stunt Pilot) or coaster that are themed to skiing (Alpengeist) which are not... well you get the idea... ;)
Don't underestimate how much speed the train actually looses when traveling that fast. I could very well imagine that without any launch after the spike the train would not make it over the top hat even if the spike is 500 ft (and the center-of-mass of the train reaching, say, 460ft or what is...
... because the ride would have been down at that point in time? 😅 bad joke, but I don't think such arguments make too much sense, as we actually cannot foresee something like this tragic event. In the same way we don't know what could have possibly happened with the Lightning trains. So, hope...
Doesn't anybody have some recent footage from the Zamperla site? That much track could probably not hide that easily from sight. Could clarify speculations pretty much right away.
