Stuck for a whole 24mins! I hope she's going to sue them!
http://www.kmbc.com/news/riders-get-stu ... z37Arh6jcYLisa Bowman and her son were on the ride at the time. She sent us some video she took with her cellphone just after the ride got stuck on the way to the top.
Bowman said they were stuck for 24 minutes.
Maintenance crews repaired the problem. No one was hurt.
Worlds of Fun officials told KMBC that a safety sensor went off and disengaged the ride. Officials would not elaborate on that.
SteelHawk vaults riders 300 feet into the air and spins them around eight times in about a minute at the very top.
In its previous life, the ride was called Windseeker at a California amusement park. Park officials shut it down after riders were twice stranded at the top. It never reopened because the park did not replace the ladders to meet safety standards in California.
But the ladders are legal in several other states, including Missouri.
SteelHawk opened about two weeks ago at the Worlds of Fun park.
