For the last 3 years I have been a member of the Wey and Arun Canal, mainly visiting Loxwood West Sussex.

In 1970 the trust was formed to restore as much as they possibly could of the Wey and Arun Canal from Shalford Nr Guildford Surrey to just north of Pulborough West Sussex.
The main focus has been in the Loxwood Extension area where we love to go for "quiet time" away from the buzz opf everyday life. Over the last 3 years they took on a major project to have a bridge made to go under the B1223 starting in January 2008 to the cost fo £1.7million raised by members and from grants and donations.
Yesterday 9th May was the opening of the road crossing to which Leigh and I went to watch, Okay it was full of pomp and ceromony but it was so good to see the project we have followed from the begining eventually opened.
This is a far cry from our normal fast moving activities we like to do but this is our way of unwinding and relaxing when we are not riding coasters and going to airshows and marshall local events. It is such a quiet place and no real traffic noise you can just relax in peace, watching barges and just going for a walk, it is also photogenic and I have taken sooo many photos here over the last 3 years and they never fail to produce good results.
