[Walibi Belgium] Zombie Celebration!

What does someone do when he gets bored? And Belgian themeparkfans have started some discussions about Halloween in our Belgian parks? Yes, bring back old memories and experiences from Zombie Attack last year in Walibi Belgium. I was browsing around on YouTube this afternoon and suddenly I found this certain kind of video that was pretty weird.

It's a video that was uploaded three days ago. It's about a young guy that is walking around the street behind the park (Rue Joseph Deschamps) and climbs over the parks fences, where the deliverance-entry is. And well...strange things happen there!

I would think this is Walibi's Halloweenpromotion that has officialy started. Though I think this is pretty strange, as the park starts promoting their Halloween somewhere at the end of September, beginning of October for about 10 years now. A year ago, Walibi Holland had this video about three guys going backstage in a haunted house, but that video was released at the official Walibi Holland Facebook-page. So would this be the Halloween madness getting started? Or some joke from local youngsters? Curious how this will continue.

The video:

Re: [Walibi Belgium] Burglary goes wrong!

That video was fun, but I was expecting a scare finale :(
I liked the bridge bit though!

Yeah I'd be very surprised if this isn't an official tease for their Halloween event. It's quite similar to the Disneyland Paris and Parc Asterix Halloween teases from the last couple of years.

Yeah. This type of viral video is used a LOT to promote Halloween events and scare entertainment. It works.

Today, friday the 13th, Walibi Belgium gave us a preview of their Halloween for 2013. After Zombie Attack last year, they bring us Zombie Celebration this year.

In 2010, Walibi Belgium introduced Marva to Halloween visitors. She was the stepmother from Draco, who brought us his Monster Festival in 2008 and 2009. Marva is a half Belgian, half Russian circusartist who had a life full of glitter and glamour in the National Russian Circus, performing as a acrobat and trapeze artist. Her jealousy broke her career, as she was rumored to kill her own sister after manipulate her show and made her fall into a cage with lions. Her sister was eaten alive. No one ever heard of her, until in 2010, as she thought her stepson did a terrible job with his Monster Festival. She locked him up in a cage, displayed him as the laughingstock in the park and killed him afterwards. She took over the Monster Circus, brought her own Freak Show to the park and opened Zoo Terror, her personal horrorzoo.

In 2011, while being in Russia, she was alarmed that there were some unwanted visitors in the park. Several zombies were spotted in Walibi Belgium. Probably some of her freaks and some visitors who transformed into evil zombies. They were seeking revenge towards Marva. At the end of Halloween, during a massive zombie invasion, Marva was locked up in the passageways of the Insomnia haunted-house, where she died and became a zombie herself. Full of vengeance, in 2012 she locked herself up in a secret lab, preparing a lethal virus that should eliminate humanity: Virus-Z1. The government heard of the plans and secretly created a team of soldiers that should start a zombie-war, that was fought during the Halloween Finale. Soldiers for this secret project, Project Z, were found during a strict and hard bootcamp, led by agressive drill-instructors.

During the Final Show in 2012, there was this bloody war between zombies and the Project Z soldiers. Though suffering from a bootcamp from hell, Marva was able to spread her virus. Over 20.000 visitors witnessed their own infection with this virus, leading to madness, insanity, death and the eternal zombie life.

Zombie Attack 2012 Aftermovie

For 2013, Walibi Belgium presents the Zombie Celebration. Zombies vs. Humanity: 1-0!

Returning haunted houses

* Mad House 3D (all ages, 16+ after 6 PM)
* Zombie River (Family Haunted House)
* Virus-Z1 (16+)
* Insomnia (16+)
* Project Z (strictly 16+)

New for 2013

In Villa 13, visitors enter an old and posh mansion, where once a dangerous psychopath used to live. Nowadays, it is feared because of the paranormal activity that hides inside this doomed house. Visitors enter the rooms of this house, where moral boundaries don't exist. A horrific house, where visitors will be exposed to absolute madness, fear and terror.

'Villa 13' is replacing Zoo Terror, which is scrapped after 4 succesfull years. What is so special about 'Villa 13' is that it isn't located inside the park itself, but about 100 meters outside the park. The house is 16+ and, like Project Z, it won't be free.

Meanwhile there is alot of mystery about the exact location for the newest haunted house; Villa 13. The house is described to be found 100 meters away from the park's borders. On a Walloon forum, some members did a little bit of research about the exact location and the result was pretty surprising. Many people think it will be located in one of the shacks of the technical services, but the members from Ameworld think different.
They studied the parks Halloween parkmap and are almost sure that Villa 13 will be located in the Rue Joseph Deschamps, the street behind the park. And to be more specific, at the place underneath on the picture...

With the first day of Halloween next week, the park is now working very hard to finish scare-zones, haunted houses and such.

IMG_0175.jpg

Brand new entrance for Project Z, the bootcamp haunted house. The half of the house is now updated with new scenes and new scares.

IMG_0182.jpg

Banner for Villa 13, the new maze for this year, located in an actual house in the street behind the park. I have been told this maze might be the most intense experience ever in a themepark.

IMG_0185.jpg

Preparation for the 'Freak Zombie Zone', featuring flying zombies, black-light action and absurd things

IMG_0193.jpg

Work in progress for the 'Marva's Massacre' scare-zone and Halloween Diner. Marva is the half Russian, half Belgian, wicked hostess of Halloween in Walibi Belgium.

IMG_0205.jpg

Walibi Belgium says this is named Wall of Death...don't know what this is about, but a whole road in the park is covered like this, going from Marva's Massacre to Zombie Cemetery.

Zombie Cemetery, becoming a classic these days.

IMG_0216.jpg

The parks bumper cars transformed into Insomnia again. In polls in Belgium, this one is voted as the best haunted house in the country in 10 years. And yes, it is good!

IMG_0236.jpg

Also a classic in the park, Zombie River, a haunted boat-ride!

Overall theming for Halloween...

Massive thanks to http://www.walibiband.be for the pictures!
