We are only September and for the first time in years, Walibi Belgium has set off the countdown to their Halloween festival. The park has placed their official Halloween banner online and it seems the very popular zombie concept from last year will continue.

Zombie Attack will be the 12th Halloween event in Walibi Belgium. Since 2008 Walibi Belgium has started using a storyline during the Halloween event. Started in 2008 with the Monster Festival, hosted by silent circusmanager Draco. In 2010, the event was hosted by the evil, vulgar and manipulative 89-year old acrobate Marva. Being sure she did the best Halloween Monster Festival ever, she killed all her monsters, freaks and some visitors and returned to Russia. But at the end of August she was alarmed that a zombie was spotted in the park while preparing the next edition of Monster Festival. Everything she left behind for dead transformed into horrific zombies, thursty for human brains and waiting to seek revenge to this terrible woman.
As they do every year, during the final show, they end with a cliffhanger for the next year. In 2011, we saw how Marva lost the battle with the zombies and was locked up by a massive group of zombies into the dark and creepy passageways of the 'Insomnia' haunted house...

After bringing 5 free haunted houses (Candy Factory, Zombie River, The Mine of Fear, Zoo Terror II and Insomnia) to the park past year, it is now rumored that we will get 6 or 7 free haunted houses...I'll keep in touch!

Wish I could go to this. It looks amazing and the makeup is great as well.
Love how they transform rides into mazes. Wasn't it last year when they made the bumper cars into a super long 2 floor maze? You could barely even tell from the pictures that it used to be a ride.

The bumper cars were transformed into 'Insomnia', which was the 16+ haunted house this year.

Underneath a small video from 'Insomnia'. I wish I could give you some better footage from this ride, but I have been told it was impossible to film because of the violent nature of actors.

Yesterday Walibi Belgium also announced that there will be a total of 6 mazes in the park. Only two of the ones from last year will return: Zoo Terror II and Insomnia. This means a total of 4 brand new mazes coming up, one being located in the parks theater and one is rumored to be inside the former Ali Baba dark-ride.

Meanwhile, the park started their promotion with a zombie giving away flyers for the Zombie Attack event.

There were 5 haunted mazes in 2011, only two of them will return, which means there will be 4 new haunted mazes.

Meanwhile Walibi Belgium has started their 'Zombie Invasion', which means more and more zombies can be spotted in the park every weekend. After the first one yesterday, a second zombie has joined him.

Re: [Walibi Belgium] Zombie Attack!

Today, Walibi Belgium launched their Halloween website and information about Zombie Attack. Walibi Belgium said that the next edition for Halloween would be "Bigger, Harder, Better". That was no lie at all. Six haunted houses counting with 3(!) 16+ haunted houses, one exclusive haunted house and 4(!) 16+ haunted houses after 6:00 PM during the Horror Nights.

The realm of Marva has fallen down and zombies are now leading the park. An army of living dead are attacking innocent visitors Men, women, childeren...everybody is a potential victim. With no less than 180 zombies spreaded over the whole park, there is no way out. It has been told Marva did not survive the zombie attack from last year and she became a horrible zombie herself. She is out for revenge, more than she ever was, and is convinced to destroy life on earth with a lethal virus, named Virus-Z1. But like last year, she has to cope with some strong resistance. A secret army is recruting some more soldiers to join their troup and haunt down those living dead for good. Not for the faint hearted.

Six terryfying haunted houses...

Insomnia
This hell of a labyrinth will cause some sleepless nights. What you thought was only a nightmare, will become real in this haunted house. Everything inhere is horrible...
16+ - Scare Level: ¾

Mad House 3D
Entrance forbidden for adults. Entrez, entrez, entrez, sweet beloved childeren. Enter the thrilling and spooky world of the 3d dimension. Moving walls, walking on the ceiling, bizar sensations. Mad House 3D; a totally wicked place to be.
Scare Level: 2/4 – No childeren after 6 PM on Horror Nights

Zombie River
Behold on the Gold River Adventure. The water of this river hides away pure horror. Sail between horror and fear, but do realize that once entered the ship, there is no way back. All aboard? Or not?
Scare Level: 1/3

Zoo Terror II
‘Welcome’, poor, little mortals. This abandoned house is packed with ‘no-nonsens’ zombies that mass murdered the previous visitors. Will visitors wait the same faith?
14+ - Scare Level: ¾

Virus – Z1
Who dares to sneak into the secret lear of Marva? This is the place where she is preparing her lethal Z1 – Virus, in order to exterminate the human civilization. Do remind, we did warn you! Be afraid and don’t go inthere!
16+ - Scare Level: 4/4

Project Z
On this secret location, a rebellion group hides away secretly to recruit new members for their exclusive army to protect the human race. Their goal: to protect the park and the world against the very lethal virus of mass destruction. And all those filthy zombies will be elliminated. One advice from Walibi Belgium, once entered the camp: be obedient! Who will become the newest recruit for this special army?
Walibi Belgium does explicitly warn visitors that participating to this haunted house is at your own risk and responsibility.
16+ (absolute age ristricion) – Scare Level: 4/4

For the 2012 edition, Walibi Belgium informs visitors that the tone of this event is very intense. They strongly advice visitors with childeren to leave the park after 6 PM during the Halloween Nocturnes!

Some interesting details about the haunted houses in Walibi Belgium for 2012! And of course, the pre-Halloween video for 2012!

* One of the new mazes, Mad House 3D will be exclusively for kids. No adults are allowed, only if they need to guide their child. However, the park asks parents or anyone else to let their kids go in alone. Only for adults before 6 PM if you have a RIP Pass No actors inside this 3D maze, except after 6 PM during the parks late night openings. After 6 PM, no kids allowed and the house will be packed with actors. Mad House 3D will be located between the Zombie Cemetary and BuzzSaw.

* Walibi Belgium announced Toxic Palace as a show, but it will be a total experience, featuring tumbling, mixed with interactive 3D Mapping (such as been used for Winter Efteling). Visitors will have to participate during this experience in witch they will have a confrontation with the actors. You will find Toxic Palace at the parks Grand Roue.

* Just like last year, the park presents their Zoo Terror inside the former waiting area from Dalton Terror. The concept will be the same as last year, with a small change. Past year, visitors witnessed the hanging and electrocution from an animal, but many people missed the action because the scene was a bit to small. They now decided to enlarge the walk through and put in some insider jokes from the Plopsa-parks.

* The revelation from 2011 will return...Insomnia! Proclaimed as the best haunted house ever by fans, their will be no changes with this haunted house, that normally hides the parks bumper cars. But, this haunted house was the inspiration for Walibi Belgium to not use any gore or blood for their newest houses. As in this haunted house, visitors will experience psychological fear in every house.

* One of the brand new houses this year will be the 16+ house Virus. Walibi Belgium claims this will be the largest haunted house ever built in the park. Located in a storage room next to Challenge of Tutankhamon, and completely indoor, visitors will be introduced in an 'outdoor' and indoor area. A part of the ride will be themed as a container port, another part as some kind of laboratory. This haunted house will contain two floors and a total amount of 25 actors. Actors will be everywhere: underneath you, next to you, popping out from the ceiling...

* The most exclusive and unique mazes this year will be Project Z, which can be found at the former Ali Baba dark-ride. You can describe the first part of this haunted house as a very tough bootcamp, with drill instructors that will make visitors go to the extreme. As it has been told, they will make visitors literally crawl over the floor. And I can asure you all, if the park says their actors will go to the extreme...be sure they will. And weither you will do Project Z with a group, at some point, you will be on your own and you will have to do a big part of the ride all alone. Duration of Project Z will be about 15 to 30 minutes.
