Vekoma Junior coasters @ Universal Orlando

I noticed that both of the Rollerskaters at Universal (Flight of the Hippogriff and Woody Woodpecker) have this strange carraige at the back of the train:

What on earth is it for? I've never seen anything like this before. At first I thought it could be something to help with crossing the track in the station, but surely they wouldn't go to that much effort...?

Also, whats with the rope they have attaching each car to one another?

I guess the rope is a sort of redundancy check in case the cars separate, don't have the slightest of a clue for either of them.

Vekoma is an odd company so I'm sure their explanation for it will be lolzy.

It is just a piece of small rope, so it's not there as a fail safe incase the trains breaks apart, thats for sure.

I don't see how the platform at the back would be 'too much effort' for somewhere like Universal. It probably is just so employees can cross the track, and makes loads of sense.

Its probably for H&S and evacuations. I suspect that the queue is so long that trying to send everyone back through the queue in an emergency, is not good enough. I reckon its something like that?
