In the UK we have this road sign to indicate a theme park.

Is there an American equivalent? I've tried Googling but had no luck and can't recall seeing one on my travels there in '04 and '07.

Never seen one, usually there's just a green or brown sign with the name of the park and an arrow pointing in the direction you should drive to get there.

^ Yup.

There are no graphics, but there are road signs that are titled with the amusement park or water park, point which direction you need to take. In some cases, such as Cedar Point, signs will feature stylistic writing, pertaining to the amusement park.

So are the American tourist info signs always that green colour (color :p) or does it vary?

They are color-coded by purpose, but green seems to be the most common. On major highways, the signs giving directions to various places of interest, those denoting exits, and those giving mileages to various cities farther down the road are all green. Rest stops and signs near exits giving information about the gas stations/lodging/food accommodations that can be found there are all blue. Signs pertaining to specific places are also sometimes brown, as you can see above.

As noted:

Green = Guide
Blue = Accommodations (Gas, Hotel, Food)
Brown = Recreation and Cultural Interest (Parks, Amusement Parks, Landmarks)
Orange = Construction
Yellow = Warning
Red = Regulatory (Stop you whore)

That is the standard in the United States. Some signs can alternate in color, as Green and Brown are often switched. But yeah.. no sign in specific for an amusement park.

Cedar Point struck a deal with the City of Sandusky to display blue signs with the Cedar Point logo for directions, rather than the stock brown signs. Here is another photo off of Google Maps.
