Essentially, we are just a collection of lower life-forms all working together in symbiosis to create a holistic functioning life form.

A bit like when the Power Rangers all come together to make a mega robot killing machine thing!

This shows an evolution of the worms where they have formed a single new life. The purpose of each worm it to work with the others to perform... whatever life long aim they all have in this new mass worm life.

It's actually pretty cool, in an amorphous blob kind of way!
