My Hornby Track

Not sure if any of you will be interested in this but got my track out today for the first time in a while so decided to take some pics.
I'm not like a model geek and all this is from a few years ago when I saw an advert on TV for it and thought it was 'cool' so asked for it for Christmas.

There's no scenery as the board stands up against the wall behind the sofas when not in use.

Anyway, some pics..

If the pics don't show then here's the url for the album:

Here's the whole layout.

We have a scale version of the Virgin train (with working headlights) so here's some pics of it. It's quite long:

Thats not fair! I asked for a train set and/or scalextrix every year between the ages of about 4 and 11, and never got one.

Well, I finally got a scalextrix when I was 18 which went some way towards making up for it, but y'know... I'm not bitter or anything.

I used to have loads of trains until I was about 15 years old.

My mates used to take the piss out of me but I used to enjoy it.

Same goes for Scalextrix.

I've got loads of hornby from when I was 10-12 actually. Might flog it along with my coasterdynamix set to get a bit of cash!

I used to have one of these wen I was little.
They were quite fun.
I just might have to pull it out again!

I had a couple of train sets, but it just never really did much for me. I wanted to enjoy it, but it was just so dull and bland. I can see the joy of building great sets with all the scenery and everything, it's an artistic hobby. Just putting them out though and making then "choo-choo" around is a form of brain death.

Scalextric is win, because there's skill involved, crashes, small bits of plastic embedded in family pets and all the fun of trying to create a ramp system which works :)

I've posted pictures of my Scalectix before. You'll probably remember it?
I may post photos in this section of the forum as well to go alongside this topic. I have loads of both. :p

I use to have scalextric...well I say I did when in fact it was one of my brothers but being the adorable (annoying, spoilt) little sister I got to play with it lots too! Did have an urge about a year ago to go and buy some but never got round to it.

Nice track ollie you would like model world down brighton. Changed alot though since it started out with trains.

Also scalectrixs you say. I do, do a high powered version called slot car racing. *plug* http://www.bscra.fsnet.co.uk/
I have three boxes though of the scalectrixs which hit some speed at crazy cross overs which have destroyed many a car. Ill post tonight in seperate topic and every one else can and perhaps get a depate going.

Hahahaha, I know what you mean Vadge. I asked for one every year for years and never got one. Mum thought it would take up too much room. The one I always wanted was that Intercity 125 train... (basically what ran before the Virgin Trains come along I think).

Part of me would still love to have a great big train set-up in the loft or something.

Impressive collection there though Ollie. You have some nice pieces.

And to think Hornby nearly went under.... god bless the Hogwarts Express!

At first glance, I thought the topic title was "My Horny Track"
