Oh god, the anxiety.
@Hixee did you have any joy? I've just booked flights through Shanghai next month and want to know if it's worth making the trek across. Cheers.
Ah yes! I thought I'd get to my trip report sooner.
The park was open, but stingray was closed. It was listed on their 'closed for maintenance' board at the gate, but when I asked as guest services the way she chuckled made me think they might be a bit more permanent.
Not like a rude laugh, mind, more like a "haha oh god that coaster is a nightmare" type laugh. She was very friendly! I trusted her and didn't bother sticking around.
The cred was still very definitely standing, and the park was open (and busy), so that's probably not hugely helpful!
Aww bugger. Well thanks for the info anyway. I've only got a day spare so will have to make a decision if it's worth the trek on a whim, or to give it up and go to Happy Valley/Jin Jiang instead. Hmm...
Do World Joyland if you have the time and havent been its doable in a day
Cheers. I have a day and a half but the half day I'm saving for Bund and city times. I've been to Shanghai once before but totally screwed up the flight connection and ended up with two days of spite and only doing Disney. Beginning to think it's cursed.
For reference there is the number 73 bus that goes from Changzhou Wujin Bus Station to the park.
personally I got a taxi from Wuxi station after getting the bullet from Shanghai. Took about 40mins in the Taxi but it was still cheap as chips
FWIW: I did the "metro" method - got off at Times Square on Line 1 - also got the train to/from Shanghai.
The metro wasnt even built when i was there. They are opening lines across China at a frighting speed. I stay at the same hostel when i am in Shanghai and last time i went they had opened 2 new lines through the local station since i had gone 3 years before.
Some confusion there.
Roomraider must be talking about Joyland (yes, get a taxi from either Changzhou or Wuxi), while Hixee is talking about Giant Wheel Park (yep, metro to Times Square and 10 minute walk)
Indeed, probably my fault for misreading it! Thanks for clearing it up.
Thanks guys, that's all really helpful info. Still not sure what I'm going to do yet but it's good to be prepared.
Park still going, but still 'maintenance' on the coaster as of this week. I wouldn't.
I might try anyway tbh. I'd hate it to have been open and I'd not bothered.
My main conference has been cancelled now (FFS) but I'm still going out as I've got the flights. Will have to root out some people to see but might have slightly more spare time than I was expecting.
It seems like the park is now officially closed
What this upgrade project means is anyone's guess. from that description it sounds like they are building some large buildings rather than rides.
I can see why it closed now...
