Comic ****ing Relief is here and the Shaturdays have covered, sorry butchered, Depeche Modes 1981 hit, Just Can't get Enough.

That's novelty itself because the Shaturdays aren't a serious band. Are they?

Anyway, when it comes to charity singles, do you prefer novelty songs such as Hale & Paces "The Stonk" and "Living Doll" by Cliff Richard and The Young Ones or would you rather hear a proper/serious song such as "Uptown Girl" by Westlife or "Who Do You Think You Are?" by the Spice Girls?

Personally for charity I'd much rather have a few Ceplebrities doing a stupid cover.

The novelty songs sell much better than the serious songs, however, I do prefer purchasing a good song knowing that some of the money I spent woudl go to good causes, instead of thinking I wasted my money on some ****e song.

Novelty as the "real artist" is almost always gonna be a ****ty girl/boy band. And sometimes they are slightly funny. I hate the whole comic relief thing though. If I wanted to have charity rammed down my throat all evening on tele, I'd watch comunity channel. Some of the sketches are OK though.

Good video though just as long as you keep volume turned down.

I prefer hearing the novelty singles with a few celebrities rather than getting a band to do a proper single. The whole thing is meant to be lighthearted anyway and its funny to see celebs making fun of themselves.

The only charity record I've ever bought is "Help" from Bananarama/French & Saunders. I know it was ****, but I was only eight.

I think a cheesey cover is more in line with the whole Comic Relief thing (ie crap). I'm not that bothered really, just as long as ****ing Bono isn't involved.

They're all usually toss, but given the choice, i'd go with the celebs. The faux-serious tracks like The Saturdays are just another track for them, and for us really. Will we remember in 5 years time that it was a charity single? I doubt it. Do we remember Hale & Pace - The Stonk as a serious attempt for pop stardom all these years later? No, we remember it as a bit to raise money for a worthy charity.

Novelty.

Chairty singles are always going to be ****. At least if they don't pretend it will ever be any good then it's in a way less ****. I know it's flawed logic, but still...

(Oh, and Band Aid is exempt ;) )
