Somewhat unexpected this. New track has arrived at Casino Pier in New Jersey
The track is certainly Gerstlauer and looks to be a Eurofighter style ride.

RCDB has it listed as an infinity coaster. Has this actually been confirmed?

Looking at the track itself and the design of the tie spacing, it's the same as other Infinity models. \|/\|/\|/\|/ instead of \|\|\|\|\|\ on (all/most) Eurofighters.

I hate to break I to everyone, but having analysed the track segments even more, I have concluded that this is not an infinity coaster. Its a Eurofighter. If you look at the brake run segments (lots of photos on TPR) there is only one fin (like all of the Eurofighters) as apposed to two fins (found on all Infinity coasters except The Smiler). And also, having looked at the vertical lift hill base (also found on TPR), there is no straight horizontal section of chain lift before it angles up to 90 degrees (just like all Gerstlauer Eurofighters).

Since not much at all is known at this stage, RCDB has listed it as an infinity coaster, however I am fairly sure they are wrong. however, it is very possible that I am totally wrong, however I hope to **** god that I am wrong.

I believe this will be a clone of untamed, rage, etc. The land the coaster will be situated on is (yet again) on the Theme Park review website. So I sincerely apologize if I have just ruined every ones day...

Well huh, you actually might be right for once. Only thing I'd like to add is that the design of the crossties are like Monster and Junker( \|/\|/\|/ ), and not like Eurofighters ( |\|\|\|\|\ ). Looks like they're mixing it up a bit. Don't think it'll be a Rage clone tho.

I never noticed those differences in the tracks, but is that seriously the thing that distinguishes Eurofighters and Infinities? I mean, I never really considered Monster an Infinity at all, it does what a Eurofighter does.

Millennium Force and Intimidator 305 have different track designs, but they're still Intamin giga coasters. Their not in their own special class, right?

I always thought that Infinities were just "Gerstlauer custom loopers" or something like that (or just Eurofighters w/o the vertical lift hill and beyond vertical drop).

I thought every coaster by Gerst after a certain era was deemed to be an infinity model? They don't refer to any coasters as Euro fighters anymore do they?

But that model came from the eurofighter era. The last new design was Abyss which opened same year as the first infinitys.

Infinity's and Eurofighters are two separate models. They have not stopped making Eurofighters, I think the Infinity coaster is better because you can do more with it, but the Eurofighter is just a smaller, more compact version.

^ Yeah, you beat me to it. As is Mystery Mine and Saw, yet The Smiler is an Infinity Coaster and much more compact then both of those...

According to Gerst's website, a Eurofighter starts with a 97 degree drop. And an Infinity Coaster doesn't. This appears to be the only main difference.

^ But... Monster? It seems that not even Gerstlauer themselves are able to distinguish between the two. :)

Krater is 95º and Mystery Mine is 95º, so that can't stand. I'd probably agree with the 'beyond 90 degree' drop element to that.

Monster is an Infinity Coaster?

Looking at their website, the only main difference I can find between the two is the diameter of the wheels and the fact that you can have a 'train' on the tracks instead of the singular cars.

That also doesnt work lofty, Monster and Karacho are both Infinity coasters but both run singular trains. Edit just read your post again and you say that they are capable of running trains not that they have to. My bad!

From what I can see it comes down to the magnetic brakes on the lift hill. All eurofighters have a standard chain lift roll back system where as the infinity's have the magnetic brake fins, which stems back to my point that all Gersts after a certain period are Infinity coasters. If they were to build another rage clone I assume it would employ the old anti rollback system and would therefore be considered a eurofighter, if it were custom they'd adopt the magnetic fins and it would be deemed an Infinity.
