I noticed that there wasn't a topic up about WMG (at least I didn't see any). The ride is planned to open May 2014.

Some information can be found on the park's website:

https://www.canadaswonderland.com/what-s-new/new-for-2014

Also, there have been a few construction photos released on the park's facebook page:

Feb 18th Update:

Not a very helpful picture, but here's another piece of track

Feb 23rd Update:

Was looking around and found another picture:

4BwuI.jpg

Looks like there's still a lot of work left to be done.. also since the track seems to be leading outside this could be part of the loading area or could be at the top of the mountain when the ride comes back in from the lift hill

A dark ride that travels outside into daylight? What a stupid decision.

Um, what is it...?

It's supposed to be an "interactive 4-D dark ride" with some coaster elements built in (though I'm not sure how that's supposed to work...). The park hasn't released very much useful information about it to be honest.

This. It's a nice concept that never works.

I still don't quite get this? If you're going to build a dark ride, build a dark ride... Don't incorporate an outdoor section..?

Re: Canada's Wonderland | Wonder Mountain's Guardian | Dark

The outdoor section is most likely only going to be the lift hill - the rest will be indoor. They have a lift hill because it's some sort of darkride/coaster hybrid. I'm honestly not sure why they don't just put the lift hill inside - there seems to be lots of room.

More construction photos from the facebook page of the lift hill being installed/finished:

Well this certainly qualifies as one of the oddest ride projects I've ever seen.

Isn't it technically a coaster now? - And even better, can we count it? :--D

I would definitely say it's a coaster, but I suppose we have to wait and see what it does a little bit more.

On that last picture it actually looks like it might be a a turning drop into the mountain behind the tree.

Nothing Concrete but Screamscape had a post about just that. supposedly it does have a drop.

A reader who passed by the park over the weekend reports that right after the new lift hill, the track on Wonder Mountain’s Guardian turns to the right and enters into a steep drop almost all the way to ground level. Looks like there will be some thrills before you enter the dark caverns inside the mountain. Hopefully someone with a good lens may be able to get a picture of this soon.

If the park doesn't release a picture before the weekend (and probably anyway if it does), I'm planning to drive by the park and take some pictures myself - hopefully i'll be able to see the "drop" and post it for you guys :p

testing is also underway, so it should be ready for opening day about two weeks from now. Also there is a drop (in the pictures), though it's not too steep.
