Topping out any structure with a tree or flag adorned on the highest point is a widespread construction tradition. Why? Honestly I'm not sure, but it's been around for centuries.

Millennia, even. I looked it up once, and apparently it originated in the Nordic countries as a means to appease the spirits of trees that were chopped down for wood to the structure. But such spiritism predates even the Norse religions, so it has to have originated somewhere in the early Dark Ages at the very latest.

My, that inversion looks tight! That will be one whippy transition!

I would almost be inclined to say it looks a tad jolty, but taking into account that this is RMC we're talking about, it should ride wonderfully!
