They look like a very rudimentary anti-rollback device.
Some little additions to the platform : (I did a quicke visit on Thursday))
The monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey?
There is a train on the track : (video will follow this evening)
Well that's obviously a spinning car.
Here is the video :
well! this is a cool idea,
but will the final version have inversions?
or it's going to be more like a family spoomerang?
The cars look like they have vest restraints, so I think they will be for thrilling, inverting coasters.
Maybe the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster for Epcot? I swear that's rumoured to be an intense spinner isn't it? And obviously Disney love Vekoma (and possibly Mack as of late).
New images from today Mar 16 2018 :
Is it me or that chassis a weird shape? Why is there so much clearance between it and the top of the rails?
To be able to hide the rail and wheels, if I were to guess.
That's a spinning coaster.
I updated my model with help from the latest pictures (Mar 16th 2018) : (Bogie made in SKU 14)
After some creative ideas and brainstorming i came up with this :
Why are the trains so clunky and gross? The only reason I could think that they’d make the trains like that, is because it’s going onto the older track styles, but even that doesn’t make sense if they spin.
Have Vekoma learned nothing about train design?
I'm willing to bet those aren't the finished train design though, they look to have just plonked an old car onto the new chassis for testing purposes. In time, we should see proper cars added to these trains.
I'd also say that they won't be the final car types, either. I think it's a case of the fact that they just wanted to showcase the hardware as opposed to the aesthetics of the ride cars.
I actually love that car shape, looks retro.
But it is weird.
It would not surprise me at all if this does turn out to be for guardians. The controlled spinning makes sense for a themed coaster with dark ride elements.
