The Best, The Wurst and The Gersts - A Week in Germany

With sincere apologies for crashing the thread... I've just remembered that I actually recorded my on-ride reaction to the dark ride at Holiday Park We went on it without any clue as to what it was and I just clicked "record". Our faces. (For those that are sensitive to such things, a polite...

    WTF Merlin?

Sounds unfortunate. That waterfall was on at the weekend, as were the flame effects:

The Best, The Wurst and The Gersts - A Week in Germany

I enjoyed reading all of this, cheers. Ah I really want to go to Hansa and Heide Park.... seems like the next obvious place for me to visit. Funny hearing all the views on that dark ride at Holiday Park. It walks that fine line between a “slightly off-coloured jovial romp” and being “downright...

Nitefly eats too much at Alton Towers (and more!)

Cheers! Yes, I had this thought also and although I didn’t expressly mention it, I was inferring the same. There was just something really interesting to me about it which I can’t eloquently put my finger on... along the lines of the tragedy of the human condition and how, despite our best...

You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Nitefly eats too much at Alton Towers (and more!)

Sound the excitement alarm, it's time for Part 2 of the blog. Be warned: today's episode contains alarmingly thick mucus, penis jokes and a challenging moral dilemma. It's also very long. I recommend clicking this for your background listening pleasure. Having gone to see Grandma Nitefly in...

Nitefly eats too much at Alton Towers (and more!)

In addition to the above comments, you may wish to factor in that the queue for the smiler was often closed for being 'at capacity'. You will probably be OK on a Thursday, but if you were visiting on a Saturday I'd recommend making sure you joined a queue before 8:30 to ensure the queue line...

Nitefly eats too much at Alton Towers (and more!)

Just back from a two day trip at ‘The Towers’. The thread title reflects the aftermath, as I’m currently lying on my bed in a sad, fat man carb-coma from abusing the freestyle machines, hogs roasts and churros. But, aside from my gastronomic regret, I had a rather swell time. As has been a long...

    WTF Merlin?

I had one ride yesterday on Wicker Man - a front row night ride. It was a good ride although it was quite rough relative to its level of speed and thrill. If it was as intense as, say, Wodan, it would have been unbearable. Hard to say if it was slower than in other years because the night ride...

    WTF Merlin?

I’m due to be going on it tomorrow (today?) so I’ll report back.

The Best, The Wurst and The Gersts - A Week in Germany

Yes. I was trying to be amusing about the poor theming of Th13teen. My mum said that trying is all that matters. *sniff*

    Rank the Alton Towers coasters

    1. Nemesis - this is easily the best in the park to the point where I subjectively think it’s an objective fact (...?) - the section from the start of the first inversion to the end of the second must surely be one of the most intense sections on any ride? Consistently excellent. 2. Smiler -...

    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

Sounds quite strict. It does seem a bit silly that you have to force yourself around the scare mazes in such a limited 90 minute window. Not sure if that will even be possible if there is a say 20 minute queue for each one?

    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

Cool - looks like I’m going this weekend. What’s the deal with booking time slots for mazes? I don’t like the idea of having to book maze tickets and then having to complete 3 in 90 minutes.... which seems to be the case based on the 3 maze ‘deal’ ticket.

    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

Yes I was a little unfair. I am actually pretty tempted by the Alton Towers offering just to get some churros and see the gardens at night. I forgot that they were doing temperature checks, which is at least something.

    Coronavirus: Impact on Theme Parks

I love Halloween and scare mazes but holding a scare maze event in the current climate is just a totally crap idea and unappealing for anyone that has even the most fleeting eye on the news.

    WTF Merlin?

So in summary, Europa Park is better because it’s much better 😅

    Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

Haha, yes indeed. As much as I “throw shade” at TPW, I do seem to keep watching the videos. Despite being trite and grating in isolation, it does provide balance to the more cynical and overzealous side of the community, so it has its place. Shawn and Alex do make a very watchable pair, but I...
