Woo, lap bars only! Hope to get back to Seaside in August. Haven't been there since before all the hurricane and then fire damage

With this going up so fast I figured I would take advantage of the weather and head down to the Jersey Shore to get some filming done. Here are some photos I took to hold you over until I get the video posted:

Station construction is only starting, so the Gerstlauer engineer is flying back to Germany today and will return once the building is in place.

He can't lay out all the cabling, etc. until the station building has been constructed, so he temporarily removed a small section of the track to allow for easy access to the area.

In addition to Hydrus, a huge Technical Park Ferris Wheel is also being constructed right next to the coaster.

Any idea if a secondary coaster will show up? I don't know if their kiddie miler made it post hurricane/fire. Wouldn't be too shocked if they put in an SBF Spinner or something along with this.

I was there for the opening, but had to drive straight down to Philadelphia to cover the game against the New York Red Bulls.
I'll post some photos, etc. When I get home later tonight.

Sorry for the delay, but by the time I got home after midnight I had to get some zzz.
this is literally the worst POV angle I've ever seen.
Yeah, I didn't film a reverse ridercam video because the only place to attach my camera is the front bumper.

The only major differences since my last visit was the addition of the station, photo booth and fencing.

I think they did a great job with the station...

hydrus_station.jpg

...and the signage.

hydrus_sign.jpg

As for the ride itself...

hydrus_layout.jpg

...the trains are comfy...

hydrus_train2.jpg

...and the ride is very smooth.

hydrus_inline.jpg

In fact, it's probably the smoothest Euro-Fighter I've ridden.

hydrus_station_train.jpg

However, like Iron Shark, the ride time is extremely short at only one minute and barely 20 seconds from the top of the drop to the final brake run.

hydrus_drop1.jpg

Plus it's $10 per ride, so not a lot of bang for your buck.

Like the new Ferris Wheel, which will open in the next week or two, the coaster also has a cool light package.

hydrus_leds1.jpg

It's similar to the one on Monster at Adventureland, where the coaster is lit up green when not in operation...

hydrus_leds2.jpg

...with various light patterns and LEDs following the train during the ride.

hydrus_leds3.jpg

I'm going to return to the park to film Hydrus at night, once they extend their operating hours during the summer.

So that's it for now. I should have the videos rendered tomorrow and will post them here after I upload them to Youtube.

Edited to add the videos. - ECG

Great photos Jerry! Exciting to hear they'll use the same LED light packaging as Monster. I really wish this trend will continue to catch on for amusement parks.

Yeah, the more lights the better. <3

Thanks for the coverage Jerry - it certainly does look great against that clear blue sky.

Yay! Monster lights! <3

The sign looks incredible, but I can't say the same about the trains...
